Golden Ale Style. Pale light golden color with a slight haze and rich head. Sourdough yeast and Brazil nut aromas follow through to a sweet-tart, medium to full-bodied palate with tangy citrus and sweet malt flavors. Finishes with a nice impression of balancing hops. A clean, well-made ale

Abbey Brown Ale
(Corsendonk monasteryj, Oud Turhout, Belgium)
Abbey Dubbel Style. This is an abbey-style Belgian brune from the Corsendonk monastery. Nose is malty, woody and puddingy, with sour hints of lemon and brandy. On the palate it is smooth, with treacley malt very evident along with an alcohol on the roof of the mouth. It is perhaps a little sweeter than other brunes. Aftertaste is quite sour, with lingering treacley malt notes. This strong and sweet ale makes one amazing drink.

Abbey Tripel Style. Brilliant golden-yellow hue. Pours with a rocky white head. Sweetly fruity aromas follow through on a moderately full-bodied palate with a markedly malty and sweet mid-palate that gives way to a long fruity finish. Delicious.

Finishes with balanced citrus hops and nice earthiness. A superb cheese beer.

A smooth rich entry leads to an sweetish, chewy full-bodied dark roasted malt palate with intense dried fruit, roasted nuts, mocha, and mild toffee flavors. Finishes with a very long, mild earthy hop and darkly toasted nut bread fade. An incredibly rich and delicious world-class doppelbock.

A great domestic Pilsner with a dry malty expression.

Sam Adams Black Lager

Dark Lager Style. Deep dark brownish black color with a light tan head. Sweet dark caramel and roasted nut aromas follow through to a smooth frothy medium-to full-bodied palate with rich chew caramelized dark malt, honeyed pumpernickel toast, nuts, and candied citrus peel flavors. Finishes with a delicate, long sweet fade of toffee and a hint of licorice with faint dusty hop impression. Deliciously and amazingly easy drinking and light considering the richness of flavor.

Porter. Very strong smoked alder wood aroma. Dark black-brown color and a pillowy tan head with great Brussels lace. Sweet, smoky and complex flavors with excellent malt character. Creamy goodness, well-balanced. The perfect beer to pair with smoked salmon.

Porter. Dark brown with a thick, creamy head. Rich and tart with mild roasted malt notes complimenting dried fruit and earthy hop aromas. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and firm dark roasted malt flavors. Dry and beautifully balanced with a trailing classic British hop impression.

Obsidian Stout

Dry Stout. Opaque dark brown with a creamy taupe head. Dark chocolate notes, roasted malt, and dried fruit aromas. Rich and slightly creamy while dry and refreshing for the style. Roasted nutty malt and mild earthy hop fade. Medium to full bodied, complex and restrained with every component in good measure.

Old Rasputin Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout. Dark, deep brown, nearly opaque with a thick tan head. An amazing complex nose with fruity ale notes mingling with roasted malt, star anise, and grape must. Full-bodied with explosive flavors of dark roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, exotic brown spices, and mocha cream. Finishes very warm with trailing hints of cocoa nibs. Incredible!

Lambic Style. Deep garnet in color with an intense black currant nose. Fruit intensity carries through, with enough acidity to balance. Well-made version of a less traditional, sweeter fruit Lambic.

Boon Framboise
(Brouverij Boon, Lembeek, Belgium)
Lambic Style. Brilliant amber appearance. Somewhat toasty, vinous aromas. Nice woody, tart raspberry note with rather elegant, seemingly mature Lambic quality on the moderately full body with very fine beaded carbonation. This has been aged to a mellow, fragrant stage and finishes with a delicate raspberry, woody, and dried hop character.
